[18:01 UTC] *** Logging started. *** [11:02 AM PT] Andrew Hellershanks: Looks like the meeting has already started but I'll make it official. [11:02 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: nah it was ocasional chat :) [11:02 AM PT] Andrew Hellershanks: Welcome everyone to another Tuesday Open Simulator Developer meeting. [11:02 AM PT] Andrew Hellershanks: Looked like you were working out some issue. [11:04 AM PT] Andrew Hellershanks: The changelog indicates there were a few small changes to the code base this past week. [11:05 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: oh? was abotu to say the devs where lazy [11:05 AM PT] Kayaker Magic: laxy lazy hippos [11:05 AM PT] Andrew Hellershanks: :) [11:06 AM PT] Andrew Hellershanks: Lyr is about to arrive. [11:06 AM PT] Andrew Hellershanks: Hello, Web [11:06 AM PT] Web Rain: Hi there :) [11:06 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: ahh cuja code sign certs had expired, so he did gave us updated libs for apple universe [11:07 AM PT] Vincent.Sylvester @hg.zetaworlds.com: I did some mantis cleaning again in the faint hope of ever getting to less than 1000 open tickets [11:07 AM PT] Gavin.Hird @grid.xmir.org:8002: it does not quite work that way [11:07 AM PT] Gavin.Hird @grid.xmir.org:8002: the libs will still work, it only means he cannot use it to sign new versions [11:08 AM PT] Andrew Hellershanks: Hello, Lyr [11:08 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: well he decided to refresh them :) [11:08 AM PT] Lyr Lobo grins [11:08 AM PT] Lyr Lobo: Hello and thank you *grins* [11:08 AM PT] Gavin.Hird @grid.xmir.org:8002: yes :-) [11:10 AM PT] Vincent.Sylvester @hg.zetaworlds.com: Oh reminds me, so apparently in their infinite wisdom Microsoft have not provided dotnet 8 for Ubuntu, because they say when distros ship it they won't provide their own version. Problem is that the versions differ quite a bit, by like a year worth of updates or something [11:11 AM PT] Vincent.Sylvester @hg.zetaworlds.com: So you now have the choice of installing Ubuntu version of dotnet which is older or pull the previous jammy version instead, which is at least latest release, but no guarantee it'll work right [11:11 AM PT] Vincent.Sylvester @hg.zetaworlds.com: I wanna bang my head against a wall [11:12 AM PT] Web Rain: i didn't had a problem with that ! i installed ubuntu 24.04 and dotnet 8 after... [11:12 AM PT] Kayaker Magic: Ubuntu has 2 ways to install packages, one called snap, the old one called apt or apt-get. I found the snap version of dotnet had a higher version number, but had to remove it and follow Microsoft's instructions to install the current one which had a lower version number. [11:13 AM PT] Web Rain: pip [11:14 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: guess mono had similar issues.. [11:14 AM PT] Andrew Hellershanks: pip is for Python packages. [11:14 AM PT] Kayaker Magic: The MS instructions installed dotnet 8.0.110, snap installed dotnet 8.0.400 [11:14 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: to get updated one you had to use mono site [11:15 AM PT] Vincent.Sylvester @hg.zetaworlds.com: Even libgdiplus is still not on latest versions in Ubuntu repos [11:15 AM PT] Web Rain: the snap is always up to date than pip/apt one [11:15 AM PT] Vincent.Sylvester @hg.zetaworlds.com: I get being slower for stability and stuff, but it's getting a bit annoying lately. MS providing their own was nice way around that [11:15 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: well one needs to had ms packages repo to apt [11:15 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: had??? add!! [11:16 AM PT] Lyr Lobo passes Ubit a coffee [11:16 AM PT] Vincent.Sylvester @hg.zetaworlds.com: For how controlling MS tends to be, to just leave this to someone else is kinda weird [11:16 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: ty :) [11:17 AM PT] Vincent.Sylvester @hg.zetaworlds.com: Can always compile it as well or someone could make a ppa [11:17 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: have fun with that :p [11:17 AM PT] Vincent.Sylvester @hg.zetaworlds.com: Yeah not exactly fun options [11:17 AM PT] Gavin.Hird @grid.xmir.org:8002: is dotnet open source? [11:17 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: it is [11:18 AM PT] Web Rain: yes [11:18 AM PT] Gavin.Hird @grid.xmir.org:8002: how unusual of MS [11:18 AM PT] Gavin.Hird @grid.xmir.org:8002: I sure there is a caveat to it [11:18 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: even some msdos is now at githug :p [11:18 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: hug?? hub! [11:19 AM PT] Andrew Hellershanks: A rather old version, IIRC. [11:19 AM PT] Vincent.Sylvester @hg.zetaworlds.com: MS making development decisions not caveat enough? [11:19 AM PT] Gavin.Hird @grid.xmir.org:8002: an version 3. something, right? [11:19 AM PT] Web Rain: i think they open win xp too [11:19 AM PT] Andrew Hellershanks: Hello, Cuga [11:19 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: or 1.0 :) [11:20 AM PT] Vincent.Sylvester @hg.zetaworlds.com: They removed a ton of stuff from dotnet aiming to make it faster, so they are not exactly making it fun to work with. Despite that it's still cocaine trying to spread it as far as possible and then control that market in their typical fashion [11:20 AM PT] Andrew Hellershanks: yea, I think it was closer to 1.0 [11:20 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: "offcially" dotnet is owned by a foundation [11:20 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: same as mono [11:21 AM PT] Kayaker Magic: Mono and dotnet are merging under the help of MS [11:21 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: nahh mono is dead [11:22 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: dotnet is the merge.. well more a replaement than merge [11:22 AM PT] Gavin.Hird @grid.xmir.org:8002: yes, that was my impression [11:22 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: they improved mono a lot, the version 6... [11:23 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: then used it to be the linux core of dotnet [11:23 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: then killed it :P [11:23 AM PT] Vincent.Sylvester @hg.zetaworlds.com: As MS does [11:23 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: wel its there getting a fix now and then [11:23 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: same as ms -net4.8 also dead [11:23 AM PT] Web Rain: sure the next will be a paid dotnet in lin [11:26 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: mono had a paid "variant" [11:26 AM PT] Web Rain: i have a stupid question XD there is a way to use GetTexture in a standalone? [11:26 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: for mobile devices.. [11:26 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: xamarian of similat [11:27 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: whate gettexture? [11:28 AM PT] Web Rain: service/connector to get textures outside the box [11:28 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: guess so.. just need to set the config things [11:29 AM PT] Web Rain: OpenSim\Capabilities\Handlers\GetTexture\GetTextureServerConnector.cs [11:29 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: a standalone "links" most robust code on it [11:29 AM PT] Web Rain: seems was made as robust service :( [11:30 AM PT] Web Rain: and is not working in stansalone mode [11:30 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: it is not a good idea to open direct access to assets unless you are osgrid or SL [11:30 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: ( yes SL now has direct access ) [11:31 AM PT] Kayaker Magic: Oh really! [11:31 AM PT] Kayaker Magic: Can I extract all my stuff from SL now? [11:31 AM PT] Andrew Hellershanks: Web, that would be a pain. Makes it harder to test some scripts on ones own machine. [11:31 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: well old news... since they moved to CDN assets [11:31 AM PT] Gavin.Hird @grid.xmir.org:8002: lol [11:32 AM PT] Web Rain: is needed by jOpenSim web interface... and about that i fixed its profile and search modules... so now is possible to compile and run under 0.9.3 [11:32 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: if you know the UUIDs :p [11:32 AM PT] Web Rain: the taxi if someone need it :) [11:33 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: wel as i said guess you need to activate it somewhere on the standalone.ini files [11:33 AM PT] Web Rain: https://github.com/AdilElFarissi/jopensim4.0.4rc2-modules-os0.9.3 [11:34 AM PT] Web Rain: i did many experimentations to get the classified, profile and picks images but no success [11:34 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: don't we do that on coreĀ» [11:34 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: ? [11:35 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: think we only don' do search now [11:35 AM PT] Web Rain: i start to think in porting the fetcher/converter to the module with a perm filter for sure... [11:38 AM PT] Web Rain: so the module will send the base64 of the converted texture relative to the pick, classified or profile... with the data sent to jOpenSim [11:39 AM PT] Vincent.Sylvester @hg.zetaworlds.com: Still gotta convert j2k to something else to view it though, the fun part that [11:40 AM PT] Web Rain: there is a converter in the handler code! [11:41 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: what converter? [11:41 AM PT] Web Rain: \OpenSim\Capabilities\Handlers\GetTexture\GetTextureHandler.cs [11:41 AM PT] Web Rain: ConvertTextureData line 292 [11:42 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: ahh yes that does inc a converter [11:43 AM PT] Kayaker Magic: I have been using the Image Magick library to convert j2k [11:43 AM PT] Lyr Lobo grins at Web [11:44 AM PT] Andrew Hellershanks: Kayaker, that is another way to do it. :) [11:44 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: well gettexture jsut uses core openjpeg and system.drawing things [11:44 AM PT] Web Rain: so i think to port that to the profile module, fetch the texture from the asset service and check the perm/owner... next convert and add to the xml sent to jOpenSim as base64 [11:45 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: see no relation [11:45 AM PT] Web Rain: or as is as byte array... [11:45 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: profiles only send asset uuids to viwers.. [11:45 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: or you mean webprofiles? [11:45 AM PT] Web Rain: yes the images are to display in the website [11:46 AM PT] Gavin.Hird @grid.xmir.org:8002: website for? [11:46 AM PT] Web Rain: webinterface [11:46 AM PT] Web Rain: jOpenSim [11:46 AM PT] Web Rain: for joomla [11:47 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: well gettexture should stlll work [11:47 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: you just need tell the standalone to load it [11:48 AM PT] Web Rain: i tested many ways with no success because that relay on robust :( [11:50 AM PT] Vincent.Sylvester @hg.zetaworlds.com: I recall looking at that long time ago [11:50 AM PT] Vincent.Sylvester @hg.zetaworlds.com: Think it only works for getting things inworld and not externally [11:51 AM PT] Vincent.Sylvester @hg.zetaworlds.com: Easiest and also most performant is grabbing the uuids and doing the conversion to png or jpg in a cache so you don't have to hammer robust with it [11:52 AM PT] Web Rain: yes is the idea with the modified jOpenSim profile module... in this case is a standalone with no robust instance running [11:52 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: http://opensimulator.org/wiki/Direct_Service_Requests [11:53 AM PT] Lyr Lobo steps away to help in a class [11:53 AM PT] Joe Magarac: Oh, misc. note I should bring up: https://community.secondlife.com/forums/topic/516666-rubber-banding-jank-and-all-that [11:54 AM PT] Web Rain: i already read that Ubit ^^ as you see the configs are in robust.ini [11:54 AM PT] Joe Magarac: I've been looking at how object updates for moving avatars come in, and I think the throttling could use some attention. Not urgent. [11:54 AM PT] Web Rain: to load and start the connector [11:54 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: you cna add that to standlone [11:55 AM PT] Web Rain: ehh? how? [11:55 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: thanks joe.. ill look later [11:56 AM PT] Gavin.Hird @grid.xmir.org:8002: bookmarked, Joe [11:56 AM PT] Joe Magarac: No rush. Need more OS-speciific data and will release the tool so others can run such tests. [11:58 AM PT] Kayaker Magic: Does a standalone have a Robust.exe running? [11:58 AM PT] Andrew Hellershanks: Kayaker, no. [11:58 AM PT] Ubit Umarov: a standlone direct links several robust services [12:00 PM PT] Kayaker Magic: How do you configure those services? Do they read Robust.ini? [12:00 PM PT] Ubit Umarov: its on the standalone ini files [12:00 PM PT] Ubit Umarov: sadly using kinda diferent mechanics... [12:01 PM PT] Web Rain: yep :( [12:03 PM PT] Joe Magarac: Gotta go, next meeting. [12:03 PM PT] Cuga.Rajal @rajal.org:9000: tc Joe [12:04 PM PT] Web Rain: @ joe :) [12:04 PM PT] Andrew Hellershanks: :) [12:05 PM PT] Andrew Hellershanks: We are just past the top of the hour. Does anyone have any questions/comments before more people need to head off in to the dreaded RL? ;) [12:05 PM PT] Gavin.Hird @grid.xmir.org:8002: no, I'm good. will go looking for the comet [12:06 PM PT] Andrew Hellershanks: comet? [12:06 PM PT] Ubit Umarov: they all look the same gavin :p [12:06 PM PT] Ubit Umarov: i missed it [12:06 PM PT] Cuga.Rajal @rajal.org:9000: biggest comet of the year now visible at dawn in N hemisphere [12:06 PM PT] Gavin.Hird @grid.xmir.org:8002: there is one visible this week on the northern hemisphere [12:06 PM PT] Andrew Hellershanks: It will probably be a cloudy day/night and you won't see anything. [12:06 PM PT] Gavin.Hird @grid.xmir.org:8002: last time it visited Earth was 80000 years ago [12:06 PM PT] Kayaker Magic: I'll wait for the movie. [12:07 PM PT] Andrew Hellershanks: hehe [12:07 PM PT] Vincent.Sylvester @hg.zetaworlds.com: *looks outside* oh look, clouds, as usual [12:07 PM PT] Andrew Hellershanks: yup [12:07 PM PT] Web Rain: no here i got the confirmation^^ so now i can start the porting and testing :) [12:07 PM PT] Gavin.Hird @grid.xmir.org:8002: clear sky here [12:07 PM PT] Kayaker Magic: Yeah, I'm in the Pacific Nortwest this week. [12:08 PM PT] Gavin.Hird @grid.xmir.org:8002: tail is supposed to be 30x the width of the full moon [12:08 PM PT] Cuga.Rajal @rajal.org:9000: was biggest yesterday but still visible for a few days [12:08 PM PT] Andrew Hellershanks: If there isn't anything more re: Open Simulator for today I will draw this meeting to a close. [12:09 PM PT] Gavin.Hird @grid.xmir.org:8002: yes Cuga [12:09 PM PT] Gavin.Hird @grid.xmir.org:8002: take care everyone [12:09 PM PT] Andrew Hellershanks: That will do it for another week. Thank you all for coming. See you again next week. [12:09 PM PT] Web Rain: ha! talking about moon mine is dark :( seems missing full bright and glow :( there is a fix to that? [12:09 PM PT] Cuga.Rajal @rajal.org:9000: TC all.. :) [19:09 UTC] *** Logging stopped. ***
